These terms are an agreement between you and Mala, the studio behind mala-lab.com ("Mala", "we", "us"), for the Milogram game on iPhone, iPad and Android ("the app"). Milogram is a Hebrew word game, built on Scrabble-style rules, that you play alone against the computer. By installing or playing the app you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
1. Who can play
Milogram is made for a general audience and isn't directed at children. You must be at least 13 to use the app, or 16 in a country of the EU or EEA whose law requires a parent's consent below that age. To buy the subscription you must be old enough to make purchases in your country, or have a parent or guardian's permission. If you set up the app for someone else, you accept these terms for them.
2. Your licence to use the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment and learning, subject to these terms and the rules of the store you got it from.
You may not copy, sell, rent, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or create derivative works of the app, except where the law expressly allows it or where section 9 gives you more rights (the word lists).
3. No account; your games stay on your device
- The app has no accounts and no sign-in. You don't need to give us your name, email or phone number.
- Your saved games, settings, statistics and the words you accepted with an appeal are stored on your device only. We don't back them up. If you delete the app, clear its data or lose your device, they are lost for good, and we can't restore them.
- The game itself works fully offline. Some optional extras need an internet connection: sending word appeals (section 5), downloading dictionary updates, the subscription (section 7) and ads (section 8).
4. The game and its dictionary
- The game accepts a word if it is in the app's Hebrew word list, or in the topic list of the game you're playing (for example Tanakh or nature). The rules for which words count are explained in the app.
- The word lists were built automatically from open sources and checked by software and by sampling, not word by word by a person. They contain mistakes: some real words are missing and some entries are wrong. The game's verdict on a word is a game rule, not a statement about correct Hebrew.
- Riddles, Tanakh words and other content are provided for entertainment and learning. We try to keep them accurate but don't guarantee they're free of errors, and they aren't religious, linguistic or educational authority.
- We may change the word lists, rules, presets, bonuses and the computer opponent in updates. A game you already started keeps the dictionary version it began with.
- Points, hints, bonuses and other in-game rewards have no monetary value, can't be bought, sold or exchanged, and exist only inside your games.
Tell us at support@mala-lab.com if you find a mistake.
5. Word appeals
- When the game doesn't know a word you played, you can appeal. When you're online, the app sends only the appealed word to our word service, which decides whether to accept it. If you're offline, or there's no answer in time, the word counts in that game only and is sent later.
- Appeals are anonymous: they aren't linked to you or your device (see the Privacy Policy). You can turn sending appeals off with the "שליחת ערעורים לבדיקה" (send appeals for checking) switch in Settings.
- The word service decides by its own rules, and its decision is final for the game. An accepted word may be added to the dictionary for all players; a rejected word doesn't count, but you don't lose your turn.
- Don't use appeals to send anything other than words you played: no personal information, messages or offensive text. Don't send automated or bulk appeals.
6. Fair use of our services
You agree not to interfere with, overload or attack the word service or any other server the app uses, not to try to get around ads or purchase checks with modified versions of the app, and not to use the app in any unlawful way.
7. Ad-free subscription
- "Milogram, ad-free" is an optional auto-renewing subscription. Its benefits are described in the app at the time of purchase (currently: no ads, and the free hints per game without watching an ad).
- It's sold and billed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their terms. The price is shown in the store before you buy, in your local currency.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app doesn't cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we can't issue refunds for store purchases ourselves. Nothing in these terms limits refund rights you have under the law.
- "Restore purchases" in the app restores an active subscription on a new device signed in to the same store account. No Milogram account is needed.
- If the app can't reach the store to check your subscription, it keeps the last known status for a limited time.
- We may change the subscription's benefits or price. A price change follows the store's rules for notifying you, and you can cancel before it applies.
8. Ads
If you don't have the subscription, the app may show one ad when it opens (at most once every few hours, never during a game). When you tap Hint, you can choose to watch a short ad to get the hint for free, a limited number of times per game. No ad ever interrupts a turn. Ads are provided by Google AdMob; see the Privacy Policy. We aren't responsible for the content of third-party ads or the sites they link to.
9. Content and intellectual property
- The Hebrew word lists come from open sources, listed with their licences on the app's credits screen. Because several sources are licensed CC BY-SA 4.0, the word lists are licensed CC BY-SA 4.0: you may share and adapt the lists themselves under that licence. That licence covers the lists only, not the rest of the app.
- Everything else in the app (the game design, code, text, riddles, interface, artwork, sounds and the Milogram name and logo) belongs to Mala or its licensors and is protected by law.
- Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience; those sites have their own terms.
10. Availability and changes
The game keeps working without an internet connection. The word service, dictionary updates and other online extras may be interrupted for maintenance or reasons outside our control, may change, and may be stopped; if they stop, the game keeps working offline with the words it already has. We may release updates, and some features may require the latest version.
11. Disclaimer
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, the accuracy of the word lists and content, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some countries don't allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Mala isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for the loss of saved games, statistics or other progress, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
13. Ending these terms
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it (remember to cancel the subscription in the store if you have one). We may stop providing the online extras to you if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to for legal reasons. Sections 4, 9, 11, 12 and 15 continue to apply after these terms end.
14. Apple App Store
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store: these terms are between you and Mala only, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Mala, not Apple, is responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance and consumer protection claims, and any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights. You confirm that you're not located in a country subject to a US government embargo or listed as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you're not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must also comply with any third-party terms that apply when using the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and disputes will be heard by the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim in its courts. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version and effective date are shown at the top. If a change is significant, the app will show you what changed and ask you to accept the new terms. If you don't accept, you can stop using the app.
17. Language
These terms are available in Hebrew and English. If the two versions differ, the Hebrew version prevails.
18. General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we don't give it up. You may not transfer these terms; we may transfer them to a company that takes over the app, without reducing your rights. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the app.
